Lead Flight Test Instrumentation Designer

Position Summary

We are currently recruiting for a Lead Flight Test Instrumentation Designer to join our team in Calgary, AB.

As a Lead Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI) Designer you will work closely with De Havilland's Engineering teams to design, fabricate, install and create operating instructions for test equipment and DAS (Data Acquisition Systems) systems used by flight test crews and/or FTEs (Flight Test Engineers) for the purposes of flight testing. You will work closely with aircraft support and flight test teams to ensure FTIs are performing as intended to support aircraft level testing

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify FTI solutions using 3rd party "off-the-shelf" products
• Create/Manage design and implementation schedules and budgets
• Develop and design test instrumentation systems for our Flight Test Vehicles (FTV)
• Create FTI operating notes/instructions
• Create FTI calibration processes and tools
• Interact/Liase with Engineering disciplines to support development of their requested instrumentation needs
• Create fabrication and implementation plans for FTI equipment

Education and Experience:

• 10+ years in a Flight Test environment preferred
• Experience using CATIA/Solid-Works or equivalent
• Experience in avionics/aerospace design with a focus on FTI
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace or Mechatronics Engineering or the equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with electronics laboratory diagnosis and testing

Skills:

• Knowledge with Part 21 certification process for FTI installations
• MS Office Suite – Intermediate (Excel, PPT, Word, Outlook)
