Profile


The Lead Flight Test Aircraft Controller serves as the primary focal for the coordination, authorization, and reporting of all flight / ground test preparation on their assigned flight test vehicle / aircraft during all phases of a flight test program


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Conduct pre-flight briefing to the flight test crew about the flight test vehicles status and configuration for test
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Lead Flight Test Engineer and / or Flight Test Manager
  • Operate under the day-to-day authority of the Lead FTE, or the Flight Test Manager and/or the Aircraft Support Supervisor
  • Monitor / Control all maintenance activities accomplished on flight test vehicle including aircraft modifications specific to testing e.g. flight test instrumentation, aircraft system mods, data acquisition sys mods, etc.
  • Report, manage, and coordinate resolution of deferred maintenance items and flight test vehicle snags
  • Assemble flight test aircraft work packages for Aircraft Support team, and ensure all required work related to testing is completed prior to test
  • Provide coordination support for short-term test planning and daily ground/flight test preparation activities
  • Provide flight test vehicle status and test planning visibility


Education And Experience


  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technologist diploma
  • 5+ yrs in a transport category flight test environment preferred


Skills


  • Project management experience and/or education considered an asset
  • Must be able to work well with others and possess excellent interpersonal communication skills as the job requires interaction with a multitude of functions while adhering to strong professional standards
  • Intermediate level MS Office Suite user
  • You have the ability to read/interpret aircraft system schematics
  • You have an understanding of aircraft systems and their operation
  • You have an understanding of flight test practices and principles
  • Must have an interest to operate in a project driven environment
