Sr. DevOps Engineer

Client: Enterprise Retail Company

Duration: 6 months Contract-to-Hire

Location: East York, (Hybrid, 2 days in office a week)

POSITION PURPOSE

As a “Sr. DevOps Engineer” you will be responsible for building and supporting the infrastructure of one of the largest e-Commerce sites in Canada. This will require you to maintain high site uptime while embracing rapid change and growth using a strong DevOps mindset of continuous delivery and site automation. This is a demanding role that requires deep technical knowledge, adaptability, hands on execution, and a ruthless drive towards higher levels of availability.

In this role

You will have a maniacal focus on production and LLC environment uptime

Engineer application infrastructure that is reliable, efficient, and maintainable

Partner closely with software engineering teams using a strong DevOps mindset

Constantly improve operational processes and efficiency

Automate CI/CD process

RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

Internal Candidates: Must fulfill minimum time-in-position (1 year) and performance management code requirements (M+, Meets Expectations and Consistently Demonstrates)

70% - Delivery & Execution:

• Documents, reviews and ensures that all quality and change control standards are met
• Fully responsible for design and implementation of automate infrastructure provisioning, deployments, testing, monitoring services, and test cases based on modern CI/CD principles in Cloud or on-prem
• Creates meaningful dashboards, logging, alerting, and responses to ensure that issues are captured and addressed proactively
• Maintain Cloud base infrastructure and monitor the availability
• Designs custom code or scripts to do "destructive testing" to ensure adequate resiliency in production
• Development of cloud infrastructure setup, install , maintain and upgrade of CI/CD and monitoring tools.
• Defines Service Level Objectives for product(s) to constantly measure their reliability in production and help prioritize backlog work
• Contributes to enterprise-wide tools to drive destructive testing, automation, or engineering empowerment

20% - Support & Enablement:

• Proactively monitors production Service Level Objectives for product(s)
• Triages high priority issues and outages as they arise
• Provides application support for Infrastructures and CI/CD tools
• Monitors tools and participates in conversations to encourage collaboration across product teams
• Fields questions from DevOps team member or product teams or support teams
• Proactively reviews the performance and capacity of all aspects of environments, code, infrastructure, data, and message processing

10% - Learning:

• Proactively views articles, tutorials, and videos to learn about new technologies and best practices being used within other technology organizations
• Participates in and leads learning activities around modern devops core practices (communities of practice)
