THE OPPORTUNITY

Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Soil Scientist to join a well-established team of environmental professionals in our Guelph office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading soil-related field programs and providing technical support to project managers. Responsibilities include the following:

• Contributing specialist expertise to multi-disciplinary projects
• Liaising and negotiating with other partners, clients, regulators, contractors, and sub-contractors
• Providing technical and regulatory expertise regarding contaminated sites work
• Ensuring clients’ and Triton’s safety standards are maintained or exceeded
• Working collaboratively within Triton’s corporate culture
• Writing high-quality reports, cost estimates, and proposals
• Supporting technical teams to ensure the quality, cost, and timeliness of deliverables
• Leading pre-development, phased environmental site assessment, and reclamation field programs
• Providing technical leadership within a team environment

Skills And Qualifications

• Valid driver's license from a Canadian province or Territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting.
• Excellent verbal communications skills.
• Experience with Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments, Assessment of Past Uses, Groundwater Monitoring Programs, Remediation, Reclamation Detailed Site Assessments, and/or Reclamation Certificate Applications
• Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style.
• A minimum of three years of relevant experience in the environmental industry.
• Undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) in soil science, environmental science, earth sciences, or related field.
• Knowledge and experience with soil classification and mapping using the Canadian System of Soil Classification
• Experience operating off-highway vehicles.
• Registration or eligibility for designation with a professional association is an asset.
• Experience with Provincial regulatory guidelines (Excess soils regulations etc.).
• Experience with erosion and sediment control planning or soil loss modelling would be assets.
• Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time management skills.
