We are currently recruiting for Software Engineers to join our software development team. You will join a team of creative engineers, data scientists, and visualization designers and work across our entire application stack.

• Front end - JavaScript/TypeScript single-page applications
• Back end - Java and Elasticsearch or PostgreSQL
• DevOps - Docker and Kubernetes

We don’t expect you to be an expert in everything, but you’ll bring expertise in one of those areas with a strong willingness to learn the others. You will also bring strong attention to detail and a continuous focus on quality and improvement while working closely with others across our organization.

You are likely coming from a job where you have been part of a team responsible for building single-page applications using current technology and approaches. Your role may have been specific to the front-end or server-side, but you’re building experience in other areas and ready to take on a job that will foster that growth.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• Familiarity with Python and Node.js for creating additional analytics and services.
• Experience building user interfaces - visualization/graphics a plus (d3, canvas, leaflet, etc.).
• AND/OR
• Knowledge of modern orchestration and deployment tools such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with data science or ML methods and technologies is a bonus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Sound, hands-on experience with the REST pattern, MVC, and N-tiered architectures.
• Deep experience on the server-side of RESTful web applications - Java, specifically Quarkus or Spring Boot is a plus.
• You should be comfortable with the command-line and modern editors and know how to get the most out of your development environment.
• We’re not looking for a DBA, but knowing your way around modern data stores such as Elasticsearch, MySQL, or PostgreSQL is helpful, particularly if your skills are mostly back-end focused.
• Strong JavaScript or TypeScript development experience within a current SPA framework (VueJS, React, Angular, etc.). We’re looking for a high degree of comfort and experience with front-end architecture, including state management, routing, event handling, etc.
• Appreciation of build systems (Vite, Webpack, Gradle, etc.), tooling (git, linting, etc.), TDD, CI/CD.
