Boeing Vancouver is seeking an Intermediate Software Engineer reporting the Manager of Software Development. The position will be based from our Richmond, British Columbia office; however, a hybrid work style is offered, allowing the candidate to work both virtually and in the office.

At Boeing, Digital Aviation Services team endeavors to build and sustain next generation solutions for our customers. We seek candidates who proficient in Python/Java and other server-side technologies, passionate about code quality and good engineering practices. Expertise with Microsoft Azure is a big plus. The successful candidate will drive the daily execution of product development in a fast-paced agile environment and thrive in a culture of collaboration and relentless improvement.

Position Responsibilities:

• Participate in the design and implementation of complex, business critical features of the system
• Collaborate with team members, Product Owner, and Scrum Master to ensure that the software meets the business requirements
• Work closely with Scrum Masters to organize the work
• Work closely with test engineers to ensure software deliverables are of the highest quality
• Actively contribute to the process of continual improvement, with regard to self, team, processes and systems
• Ensure that the software you build aligns to architectural guidance and the team's agreed upon code best practices
• Willingness to collaborate with geographically distributed teams

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Richmond, BC. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail
• Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data.
• 3+ years of experience with Front End web development such as Angular 2+
• Must be legally able to work in Canada
• Individual must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods
• 3+ years of experience in Software Development
• 3+ years of experience in Java
• Fundamental knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):

• Experience with cloud development (preferably Microsoft Azure)
• Experience with Elastic Search
• Experience in Spring framework
• Experience building REST APIs and using messaging services
• Experience with XML and XSL
• Undergraduate degree or higher qualification in Computer Science, computer engineering or equivalent

Typical Education and Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more ears' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Additional Information:

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.
