NOTE: - Currently, we are seeking only local candidates based in Canada.
Roles & Responsibility:
- Conducting feasibility study followed by the preparation of design criteria and specifications for the system proposed.
- Calculates CAPEX based on the technologies and system proposed as well as annual OPEX for the system to be installed.
- Supervises the contractor/supplier and supports the customer during the system design and installation implementation phases.
- Assists the Testing and Commissioning of new equipment. Evaluates the operational performance of the system.
- Visual inspections of existing crossings and associated signalling and telecom equipment.
- Responds to tender offers received by the client.
- Technical evaluation and selection of appropriate technologies and systems. Prepares and delivers reports for the client (customer).
- Prepare and evaluate tenders (bids) submitted by potential contractors.
Qualification & Year of Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical, automation or software engineering is an asset.
Experience: Minimum of 15 years in railway and transit signalling systems, preferably with a major railway company.
Technical competencies:
- Good knowledge of AREMA standards. Familiarity with CENELEC, IEC, and IEEE standards is a plus.
- Safety oriented, good understanding of the vital principles. Capable to identify safety related hazards considering system failure analysis.
- Must have a practical management experience of signals.
- Expert in systems processes and design, theoretical timing analysis, operational scenarios, reliability and performance analysis.
- Expert understanding of the functional and operational requirements of the signaling systems.
- Good knowledge of North American signalling systems: Conventional Rail Signalling, PTC, CBTC. Knowledge of ETCS is a plus.
Personal & soft skills:
- Responsible and dynamic
- Acceptable for short term and medium overseas posting.
- Problem solver.
- Located in Canada and able to travel around the world.
- Good verbal and written skills in French (English is an asset).
- Ability to adapt to both new and different environments.
Internal and External Relationships:
- Internal: Must interface with all departments and be familiar with all systems within SYSTRA.
- External: Must be familiar with Government and Regulatory procedures. Must have deep knowledge of Class 1 railroad signalling systems and equipment. Must be able to interface with Owners, operators, consultants and contractors, as well as the suppliers of signalling systems.
