The Work
This position’s primary purpose is to provide operational support to the Settlement department that is part of Equitable's Concentra Bank line of business to ensure accurate and timely settlement services for the company as well as a variety of business lines. This position is responsible for processing and administration of employee expense claims and accounts payable, which currently use the Concur and Sage systems. This position will work collaboratively with various internal departments to ensure payment requests are appropriately authorized and accompanied by required supporting documentation.

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from Equitable Bank’s additional office space located at 351 King Street East, Toronto, ON.

The Work

This position will work collaboratively with various internal departments to ensure payment requests are appropriately authorized and accompanied by required supporting documentation.
The Core Parts Of Your Role Would Be To
- Documenting procedures
- Administer and process the employee expense claims using Concur
- Ensure the processing and recording of settlement services result in accurate and complete data by:
- Providing accurate and timely settlement of wires and EFT payments as well as cheque issuances
- Producing multi system scheduled and ad-hoc reports to support fund settlement and reconciliations
- Solving complex issues and problems using product and accounting knowledge. Review and record daily deposits and returned items
- Administer and process accounts payable submissions using Sage
- Being cross-trained and providing assistance and backup support to co-workers
- Providing technical and product support to business lines by understanding the purpose and intended result of the settlement transaction and determining the most efficient method of settlement
- Delivering to business unit service standards
- Building, furthering and recognizing business relationships within the department, the division, the company, external clients and partners
- Providing responsive service and acting as first point of contact for settlement inquiries
- Providing feedback and recommendations to management and clients on efficiencies and effectiveness
- Reporting / escalating in a timely manner any settlement problems / issues to management and clients
- Continuous process improvements and adapting to evolving client requirements and operational functions
- Completion of diploma or certificate in accounting
- Two years experience in an office environment, preferably in accounting field, would be considered an advantage
- Proven ability to think logically and problem solve
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, policies and regulatory environments
- Ability to work successfully in a complex and evolving business environment. Must be prepared for unpredictable workflows and multiple high-priority demands
- Comprehensive knowledge of settlement applications and system cutoff times such as Chequepoint, Chess, AccPac, Concur.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize work
- Working knowledge of general ledger applications such as Oracle
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
