What's it like working as a Senior Production Support Specialist at Questrade?

The purpose of the Senior Production Support Specialist is to provide in depth technical support of the business critical applications at Questrade, Inc. The Senior Production Support Analyst will be responsible for monitoring, deploying to and maintaining production environments. The Analyst will use scripting, tooling to create automation of repetitive tasks to reduce the chance of error and improve platform and service uptime.

Job Responsibilities Include...

• Be a leader in Questrade Technology group
• Automate repetitive tasks
• Manage production incidents
• Manage production Trading Systems
• Assist to and mentor junior members of the support team
• Manage and Monitor batch jobs for either Start of Day or End of Day
• Ability to work weekends and evenings on call when scheduled
• Work with Engineering, DBA and System Admin and Network teams in order to facilitate change management process
• Be able to review configuration and code changes and assess risk
• Proactively create alerts and dashboards for Production and Non Production environments
• Capable of troubleshooting application layer issues on either IIS, Linux or GKE
• Apply ML to come up with smart alerting patterns to proactively mitigate against outages

Are YOU our next Senior Production Support Analyst? You are if…

• You have experience with GIT/GitLab
• You have experience with C#, Python, Bash (A must have)
• You have excellent problem investigating, analyzing and solving skills
• You have strong Linux capabilities and troubleshooting skills
• You are able to focus while under pressure and pay close attention to detail
• You have experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• You have experience and/or personal interest in the financial industry an asset
• You have experience in support of critical production systems (3+ years)
• You have a BS Degree in engineering, computer science or related discipline and experience is desired
• You have strong Knowledge of Splunk Administration and Querying capabilities
• You love to learn and demonstrates a commitment to learning Questrade's business and ongoing professional development
• You have well-developed communication skills
• You have experience with Data Dog
• You have knowledge and experience using at least one of the following database servers (MS SQL Server, or MySQL)
• You have experience with Kubectl, Helm, and Terraform
• You have good understanding of networks, routers, and TCP/IP and UDP protocols
• You have experience working in the environment with well-established Change and Configuration Management processes is desirable
• You take ownership of tasks and drive them through to completion
• You have the willingness to multi-task and be flexible to take on varied responsibilities
• You have excellent time-management and organizational abilities that facilitate structured teamwork
• You have strong Windows administration and troubleshooting skills
