Reporting to the Senior Manager of OHS Practice Support, this position is responsible for providing analysis, advice, and leadership on prevention matters to staff within Prevention Services, and participating in related policy, practice, planning, and decision-making activities, including research, development and management of solutions to complex practice issues, and strategic and quality initiatives.

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.
In this role, you'll work primarily from your B.C. home and occasionally in our Richmond office.

- Design and manage complex research and analytical projects with respect to prevention issues, including legal and practice advice and development.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of relevant statutory, regulatory, policy and practice requirements regarding prevention matters.
- Prepare memoranda, Ministerial briefing notes, executive correspondence, decisions and other materials related to prevention matters.
- Provide analysis, advice, and leadership and ensure effective implementation of WorkSafeBC strategies, policies, practices, and services.
- Provide key expertise on regulation and policy development, and lead the implementation of new regulation, policy or practice requirements including drafting and providing training to staff and management.
- Draft guidelines and other corporate practice and process proposals to support legislative, regulatory and policy requirements/amendments and Divisional and industry practice requirements.
- Develop and communicate corporate practice on prevention matters, provide advice issuing variances and acceptances under the Workers Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation.
- Make presentations to the Executive Leadership Team and other stakeholders.
- Effectively communicate complex materials and develop good relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Think strategically and analytically.
- Lead projects, anticipating and resolving issues.
- Collaborate with others to achieve strategic objectives.
- A minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in the interpretation and application of legislative, policy and practice requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills are required
- This position requires a degree in law or a graduate degree in public or business administration, ideally with experience of the Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulation.
