Our Canadian HQ is based out of Vancouver, BC, however we are accepting applications from any location within Canada.


About You:


It is essential that you have excellent organizational, strategic, planning, and implementation skills and an ability to respond appropriately in high-pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanor.


You are flexible and able to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines is imperative and can demonstrate that you are skilled in effective management of internal and external stakeholders.


The Role:


The Senior Manager (PMO) position presents a valuable opportunity for individuals with a strong grasp of management principles and practices to make significant contributions. In this role, you will assume leadership responsibilities and oversee the efficient implementation of projects throughout the organization, ensuring their successful completion.


Responsibilities and Authorities


Principal Objectives:


  • Cultivate strong relationships with project customers as the primary point of contact.
  • Support VENA Business Plan/Strategic Growth Plan initiatives.
  • Take ownership of the Profit & Loss (P&L) for all projects in Vard Electro North America (VENA).
  • Streamline Project Management processes and procedures across the business.
  • Meet and Exceed Annual Operating Plan (AOP) Targets for VENA projects.


Areas of Responsibility (for specified area):


  • Encourage Innovation: Foster a culture of embracing new opportunities, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Promote awareness, accessibility, and compliance with applicable regulations, rules, codes, and standards for all staff.
  • Financial Management: Oversee the financial aspects of the Project Management group, ensuring alignment with the Department Plan.
  • People Management: Foster a supportive work environment, focusing on staff availability, performance, career progression, and succession planning.
  • Project Delivery: Ensure efficient management of projects through well-defined planning, reporting, and risk management strategies.


Authority (for specified area):


  • Approve staff leaves.
  • Approve staff overhead activities
  • Manage expenditure of billable and overhead hours, expenses within approved budgets.
  • Approve staff hiring and termination.


Specific work tasks


Process & Tools:


  • Develop and maintain a database of lessons learned.
  • Ensure staff have access to established processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with VENA Management Team (MT), key Vard Electro AS, and Vard Marine stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a database of project financials to assist in the proposal/bidding process.
  • Regularly review and maintain VENA's Processes & Procedures in coordination with key stakeholders.


Engineering:


Collaborate with the Senior Manager Engineering and Engineering Managers to:


  • Identify key skill sets required for project staffing.
  • Support the career development and progression of engineering staff, where possible
  • Foster a collaborative approach among the team members.


Requirements:


Education and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in electrical engineering, Business or a related field
  • Project Management Certification (PMP, PgMP, etc.) or MBA is an asset.


Experience:


  • Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods.
  • Previous maritime, shipyard or shipboard knowledge or experience is an asset.
  • Confident in use of Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint and similar tools
  • Good attention to detail and able to produce error-free drawings.
  • Able to effectively work with all types of staff, including technical, professional, and upper management.
  • Confident in use of Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint and similar tools
  • 10+ years of experience in Senior Project Management in relate industry.
  • Persuasive and motivating, with a strong focus on managing subcontractors/consultants.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, and experience managing people.

Other Requirements:


  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and Canadian government security clearance.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours with occasional work outside of regular working hours to accommodate time zones.
