Our client, a leading Canadian software company, is currently seeking a Senior Corporate Event Planner. This role will initiate with 12 months of contract to high potential to get an extension and only Waterloo, ON (virtual but onsite execution presence required).
The Senior Event Planner will work closely with the Manager of VIP Events, from planning through to execution of corporate events within the company.
As a senior member of the dynamic marketing and event team, the primary function will be managing projects such as global meetings and tradeshows for the largest customer and partner event.
This involves working with various key stakeholders to develop plans and strategies in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. The secondary functions will include; logistical oversight of event programs, managing critical paths, building and maintaining strong client and vendor relationships, registration and travel management, food and beverage planning, as well as onsite execution.
Requirement:
* Project management of Open Text events, including all components of meeting planning from concept to completion. (annual conferences, incentive trips, and corporate meetings)
* Logistic management including creative, transportation, communications, food and beverage, signage
* Work with procurement to source, contract and manage vendors, including destination management companies, venues, speakers, graphic designers, promotional items and audio-visual production companies.
* Work with internal resources in the execution of project components
* Correspond with external resources, customers, and OpenText employees
* Delivery of event research and proposals with strong PowerPoint skills.
* Project management of program and registration websites - prior work with CVENT is an asset.
* Provide onsite support during the execution of meetings and events.
Qualification:
* 6+ years experience with large-scale event planning and strong understanding of project timelines
* Post-secondary school education in Events, Marketing, Communications or equivalent experience
* Confident, articulate, self-starter, with attention to detail
* Excellent project management skills and flexibility to move between projects in a fast-paced environment
* Strong understanding of communication processes and ability to work with various communication mediums
* Strong communication skills, a flexible attitude and the ability to function as a member of a team are required
* Excellent and proven communication skills - both written and verbal
* Extremely organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work in a highly energetic environment
* Excellent knowledge of event planning and marketing processes
* Event planning accreditation, or ongoing studies, preferred (ie CMP)
