Role Overview
iON United is seeking a talented and experienced Security Engineer to join our Security Services team. As a Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing security solutions for iON’s customers. Your expertise in security technologies, frameworks, and highly-relevant security solution will
help our customers realize their security strategy and unlock the capabilities of their security investments.
As a Security Engineer, you will be involved in projects, managed service and support activities to serve iON’s customers. You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of security technologies on multiple projects in diverse customer environments ranging from mid-size organizations to large enterprise environments. You will be a part of a dynamic team that uses expert knowledge to solve the problems and create immense value for iON’s customers.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and support security solutions using technology from multiple vendors
- Respond to and appropriately addresses support calls, incidents and requests as required
- Develop documentation including proposed design, detailed procedures, playbooks, operational metrics reports and as-built documentation
- Assess existing environments and recommend improvements and remediation based on standard security frameworks
- On occasion, be available for after-hours assistance and project work
- Travel to, and working from, client sites may be required
- Requirements analysis and solution design considering best practices and industry standard guidelines
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to work from home in an iON approved home office
- Experience in any of the following technologies is also advantageous: Tenable, Proofpoint, Splunk Okta, and Infoblox
- Background check
- Familiarity with other security concepts such as security assessments, vulnerability assessments, AAA, identity, and SSO is an asset
- Very good knowledge of network and network security fundamentals
- At least 5 years experience in IT security operations / implementation using a variety of security technologies
- Ability to identify customer requirements, recommend architecture and design and implement security solutions
- Virtualization and cloud skillset in a security context is also highly desirable
- Extensive hands-on experience installing and operating firewalls and related technologies
- Knowledge of security frameworks and standards such as NIST, CSC 20, ISO 27001 etc.
- Experience with technologies to include Palo Alto, F5, Microsoft security solutions, and Cisco (certifications in most/all of these is highly desirable)
Desirable Skills:
- Strong customer service
- Motivated to learn and grow, able to learn new technologies
- Effective communicator of technical and business information, both verbal and written
- Can mentor and assist junior staff members
- Vendor or industry certifications are an asset
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
- Own a vehicle and the ability to drive to client sites as required
- Ability to assess risk and identify threats
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Additional Information:
