To add to this expertise, we are recruiting for a Safety Specialist for KPIC our maintenance services division in our Winnipeg office location, to join our collaborative and team focused organization. As our Safety Specialist you will Implements the corporate policies and objectives of the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) program, aimed at a zero-injury culture. The position requires a passion for excellence in workplace safety, health, and environmental sustainability.
Position Overview:
- Collaborate with site staff and support leadership team in the planning, implementation, and coordination of effective health, safety and environmental programs related to the business unit.
- Investigate incidents, obtain witness statements, verify information, and prepare investigation reports and injury reports, and follow-up as needed.
- Conduct safety orientations of employees, visitors, and subcontractors as required.
- Collaborate with the business unit team to document site-specific JHA’s, critical lift plans, and safe job procedures.
- Preparation and distribution ofsafety statistics
Qualifications Needed:
- Regular travel to worksite locations is required, ranging from 60-75% of the time, pending operational needs, and the other 25-40% of the time will be spent working from Winnipeg Office.
- Standard First Aid certificate (preferably at an advanced level), CPR and AED training
- Program knowledge with SiteDocs, Avetta & ISN considered an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and highly organized with strong time management, communication, and prioritization skills.
- Construction Safety Officer Certification or equivalent
- 3-5 year’s experience in safety, managing aspects of onsite construction, the ability to provide oversight to develop site-specific safety initiatives, training and reporting procedures are an asset.
- Proficient in construction safety practices, regulations, and techniques.
