Join our Research Division in the Researcher position. You will be responsible to support the research function by contributing to, managing, executing and communicating rigorous technical, social and/or economic housing research and analyses that address business needs. You will contribute to data development, quantitative and/or qualitative analyses working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams. You will be responsible for ensuring that new data and insights are clearly and effectively communicated to key audiences in order to inform evidence-based decision-making that helps to advance CMHC’s aspiration that, by 2030, everyone in Canada has a home that they can afford and that meets their needs


This is a temporary position of a duration of 24 months.


Responsibilities


  • Contribute to briefing material, background documents and memoranda for management, senior executives and other stakeholders.
  • Supports the development of well planned, research that is clearly aligned with the Research Plan priorities and corporate focus areas.
  • Carries out research or manages consultant to complete research.
  • Ensures projects have well-defined project plans with timelines that are regularly updated.
  • Monitor trends and issues in housing research, academic and business research literature, intelligence gathering, environmental scans, professional relationships, and participation in external workshops and events.
  • Incorporate industry research and intelligence-gathering activities into housing analysis plans to enable timely, relevant and meaningful insights.
  • Supports data development including identifying and analyzing new data sets.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Knowledge of quantitative analysis software such as R, Python or others.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing research projects in terms of scope, objectives, methods and project management.
  • Ability to conduct primary and secondary data research and analysis using appropriate methods, qualitative, quantitative or mixed methods analysis.
  • Graduate degree in social sciences, economics, statistics, planning, engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in clearly and effectively communicating (orally and in writing) research findings to diverse audiences through different types of publications, web content, presentations, briefings, etc.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience directly related to research in the field of affordable or social housing and/or be a researcher who has undertaken research on housing.
