Intlvac Thin Films, a Canadian advanced manufacturing company that has a thirty-year history in the thin film deposition and materials science industry with clients in the aerospace & defence, medicine, telecommunications, energy, optics and photonics industries is expanding their Research and Development team in Halton Hills, Ontario, Canada and will be hiring numerous Research Engineers.

Role

We believe the role of our Research Engineers is to work with multiple internal team members to innovate, design and develop prototypes and processes and then work with external partners and suppliers to create commercially viable solutions with quality, cost and timeline as top priorities.

Intlvac’s Research Engineers continuously explore the nuances of materials science through a range of deposition techniques and state-of-the-art metrology equipment. By developing transformative technologies through our library of Intellectual Property, we provide our customers with industry leading value and performance. We are dynamic because of our research foundations and refined because of our team mentality. We take pride in our exceptional capability to produce cutting-edge low-temperature multi-layer metal coatings for bi-polar plates and electrolyzers.

Intlvac Research Engineers will be responsible for optical and compositional characterization of Zinc sulfide (ZnS), Germanium (Ge), Zinc Selenide (ZnSe), Magnesium fluoride (MgF) and other Infrared (IR) materials with applications andcore capability in the 3-5µm and 8-12µm infrared wavelength regions to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

Intlvac wants individuals in our research and development team that want to advance our existing technologies and IP into new markets, while having the freedom to create and develop new technologies, products and processes that can be to taken from idea and prototype to volume production.

Minimum Required Education, Skills and Experience

• Knowledge of thin film technologies
• PhD or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Physics or Optics
• Previous experience in the photonics industry
• Experience with optical coatings and deposition systems
