Research Assistant Jobs

Summary of responsibilities:

Selected candidate will manage a lab working in clinical and basic research on cardiometabolic disease, with a focus on type 2 diabetes.

They will be responsible for setting up and maintaining new techniques and standard operating procedures that evolve with the research project and for sample and material inventory and ordering. They will also share the responsibility of subject recruitment and testing, conducting clinical and basic techniques, with the research team. In addition, the selected candidate will be responsible for training and supervising undergraduates and graduate students on lab techniques together with the lab director.

Job requirements:

-Bilingual (English and French)

-MSc in medical sciences (ex: biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology) with atleast 2 years of experience as a research assistant OR a BSc in medical sciences with more than 4 years of experience as a research assistant

-Basic research expertise: cell and tissue culture, molecular biology, biochemistry (ex: PCR, western blots, transfection, ELISA, microscopy, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry..)

-Expertise in lipidology and/or immunology research is an advantage +++

-Computer skills: Excel spreadsheets, power point, statistics is a ++

-Personal characteristics: organization and training skill, analytical and problem solving, project management, motivation, independence, initiation, rigorous, quick learner, and team-player.
