Removal & Transfer Technician Jobs

At Burquitlam Funeral Home Transfer Centre, we are a group of caring professionals serving the Tri-City community for over 50 years. We pride ourselves on the progressive and supportive work environment that our staff have fostered. We are seeking a removal & transfer technician to join our team on a full time basis. This position would be ideal for someone interested in funeral service, and may lead to additional opportunities in the future.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Must exhibit exceptional professionalism, be empathetic and compassionate in difficult situations
• Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written
• Experience with Google Business Apps, Mortware, and SRS Computing are an asset
• Second language is an asset
• Strong attention to detail as diligence with paperwork & protocol is required
• Self driven with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Maintain high ethical and confidentiality standards
• Stay organized and be flexible while adapting to changes in priorities
• Computer literate and comfortable with technology
• A clean Driver's Abstract with familiarity driving larger vehicles
• Criminal Records Check
• Professional appearance and adherence to dress code required
• Physically fit, ability to lift, push & pull 100 lbs. with knowledge & use of safe lifting skills
• A valid Class 4 BC's Driver's Licence, with a least 3 years driving experience

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Processes removal paperwork and maintains accurate chain of custody records
• Performs removals of decedents from hospital, nursing homes and residences to transport to the funeral home
• Receives instructions for multiple tasks, determine the ideal order for the tasks, and complete them in a timely manner
• Prepares decedents for transportation to the crematorium
• Acts as a representative of the funeral home when interacting with healthcare staff and family members
• Maintains and ensures removal vehicles are clean and well organized
• Maintains adequate supplies and Personal Protective Equipment in removal vehicles
• Additional duties as required such as couriering items between our properties, driving and assisting on services
