QA Analyst (Mobile Game Tester)

We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Analyst to join our team! As part of the quality assurance team at Game Hive, you will be working on polishing games that reach millions of players worldwide.

QA works closely with the Product, Support and Community teams to document potential errors and provide superhero support across all departments. With QA at Game Hive, you sit on all ends of the spectrum in order to help deliver the best game experience to a community of dedicated players!

What you'll be doing

• Actively managing the development process through bug reports, and working alongside QA/Developers/Designers/Artists to resolve issues
• Isolating, reproducing, and investigating bugs as they arise throughout the development cycle
• Testing new features in development while monitoring live bugs, in parallel
• Investigating and implementing new testing methods to improve QA process efficiency
• Designing, documenting and executing test plans that ensure effective coverage of test cases
• Transferring information to the appropriate departments - i.e. bugs to quality assurance & development teams, new ideas to design team, messaging effectiveness to marketing, and noting frequently asked questions
• Monitoring Discord and reviewing Reddit to document live game issues

Max Level Skills (Requirements)

Essential skills and qualifications include:

• Understanding of iOS/Android testing procedures
• Experience using bug-tracking and development-planning tools and software (e.g. JIRA)
• Willingness to learn new tools and processes, while adapting to changes to remain flexible
• Experience in QA game testing or QA-related roles, with willingness to learn
• Passionate, motivated and knowledgeable across different game genres
• Detail-oriented, organized and comfortable with problem solving both individually and as a team
• Ability to work analytically and creatively in a demanding (but fun!) team-focused environment
• Keeps up-to-date on advances in testing techniques, identifying areas for improvements and proposing solutions
• Exceptional communication skills - a strong ability to own and explain ideas, concepts, risks and problems to the team

Bonus Points

• Bachelor’s degree, college diploma or equivalent experience in a related field
• Experience in analyzing performance data to locate and report issues
• Ability to read and understand scripts and basic code
• Proficiency in JIRA, Confluence, Google Sheets, Slack and Discord
• Thorough knowledge & understanding of Game Hive products
• Previous experience in a startup tech environment
• Familiarity with Unity, Sourcetree, Xcode

What remote @ Game Hive looks like 💻🌎

Game Hive is fully remote! The team is excited to announce that we have officially transitioned to a remote-operating team as of 2022. This means we operate day-to-day virtually, using Slack, Zoom and some other key tools as our daily communications platforms.

Our office is still headquartered in downtown Toronto, so all members of the Hivemind are expected to be online during our core hours which are 10AM - 4PM Eastern Standard Time. We kindly ask all candidates applying to be aware and comfortable working within our core hours.
