Job Description

CONTRACT UP TO 12 MONTHS
Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Our Promotional Partnerships Office is seeking a Promotional Partnerships Advisor responsible for the execution of Event Partnership programs. With the participation of the Marketing team, this individual will develop new and innovative ideas to increase external partnerships with Metrolinx, while working with a wide cross-section of internal and external stakeholders to bring projects to life, and ensuring deliverables are met against agreements with proper representation of the Metrolinx brand.
What will I be doing?
  • Gather both partner and customer travel patterns and data to develop actionable plans that will lead to customer acquisition, retention and ensure ridership and revenue targets are achieved
  • Execute event partnership programs and implement strategies to market partnerships to current and potential ridership (e.g. Through media advertisements, email blasts, etc.)
  • Develop best practices models with transit agencies, organizations, associations and researche current partnerships around different industries to establish dialogue in the discovery of potential partnership needs
  • Liaise with Marketing and Communications divisions to ensure campaigns, communications, and other promotional vehicles are prepared for promotional partnership events to maximize exposure for Metrolinx
  • Prepare analytical pre & post assessment reports for senior/executive management including qualitative and quantitative data for evidence-based decision making on initiative / partnership
  • Work with the senior/executive management teams to recommend and obtain approval for promotional partnerships proposals
  • Provide technical advice to senior/executive management to assist them in making evidence-based decisions based on analytical data and evaluation of options
  • Design and implement monitoring and reporting techniques and tools to assess the impact of promotional partnership initiatives/events focusing on quantifiable factors linked to the drivers of success for these initiatives
  • Creatively use promotional partnership assets to build and demonstrate innovative marketing programs, which will add genuine value to the organization
  • Monitor program performance with partners to ensure contract terms are met by both parties
  • Provide research, analysis, evaluation and recommendations to support the development of performance measures to identify impacts of partnership initiatives and their alignment with corporate objectives
  • Work with Events, Manager in consultation with Legal & Brand teams to develop agreements with prospective event partners.
  • Liaise with senior management and internal stakeholders on evidence-based promotional partnership program evaluation strategies and results
  • Work with the marketing team, operations and communications teams to develop promotional partnerships campaigns and ensure pro-active and integrated strategies, initiatives and events
  • Seek out event partnership prospects and develop promotional partnership proposals for review and approval by senior/executive management that will drive ridership, increase fare revenue and enhance Metrolinx brand
What skills & qualifications do I need?
  • Knowledge of media tools available to utilize in promoting partnership initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence internal and external partners on promotional initiatives in support of the Metrolinx brand
  • Verbal/oral communication skills to prepare reports, provide feedback and periodic reports to stakeholders, and brief management, provide information of a technical and area of specialty nature to a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of brand and marketing principles to support the effective development and implementation of the promotional partnerships program
  • Experience in account management to implement promotional partnerships initiatives (i.e. cyclical and transactional partnerships)
  • Completion of a degree within a related discipline – Event Management, Media Relations, Project Management, Marketing, or Communications or a related discipline, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Negotiation skills to effectively leverage promotional partnerships initiatives/opportunities that support the organization’s interests and brand
  • Strong project and time management skills/experience to implement initiatives in a timely manner
  • Ability to balance the needs of internal partners and external partners to meet goals/timelines for success of all promotional initiatives
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a similar role with a background in Marketing or communications
  • Knowledge of, and experience in conducting market research, and identifying opportunities
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint to prepare presentations, and post event reports. Graphics skills desired (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
