The Strategic Projects Project Manager will join a thriving company that has a significant amount of work in progress. Their main responsibilities include ensuring assigned projects are delivered within budget and on schedule, from the point of sale to project handover. Additionally, they will oversee the growth and development of our installation team to meet project requirements and maintain strong customer relationships.
This role will be based at the company headquarters in Oakville, Ontario, and will involve frequent travel to various sites and client meetings in Alberta, Quebec, and Ontario. The Project Manager will also be expected to travel to the United States for training and occasional project meetings.
Responsibilities
• Regularly conduct site visits to oversee progress, ensuring adherence to quality standards and project timelines.
• Coordinate with the production team to ensure timely delivery of materials to the job site.
• Manage and supervise installers, providing necessary guidance and direction.
• Cultivate strong client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact throughout the project.
• Develop and maintain schedules, budgets, and expenditure forecasts.
• Address internal and external inquiries related to project planning and technical issues.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external safety protocols.
• Coordinate, manage, and communicate with subcontractors, effectively resolving issues such as delivery, labor, scheduling, and payment disputes.
• Alert senior management of potential problems, work interruptions, or scheduling difficulties while assisting in their resolution.
• Review shop drawings and submission requirements prior to submission.
• Take the lead in managing timelines with suppliers.
• Take ownership of the change management and change order process, including pricing, processing, and assessing the cost and schedule impact.
Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive knowledge of construction processes, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Outstanding organizational skills and the capacity to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
• Proficiency in project management software.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
• 5-10 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management.
• Preference for experience in Building Envelope/Structural Steel.
• Advantageous to have experience in Data Centre projects.
