Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH) is a full-service community teaching hospital located in the growing and thriving community of Burlington, Ontario, serving more than 185,000 residents in Halton, Hamilton, Waterdown, Flamborough, Milton and Stoney Creek. POSITION SUMMARY:


JBH is embarking on a Hospital Information System implementation journey and we are looking for a passionate, skilled individual to help drive the project forward to successful completion. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Corporate Admin & CFO, the incumbent will be responsible for planning, execution and the success of the Hospital Information System (HIS) implementation project, driving it through the entire life cycle while coordinating with internal clients, sponsors and leaders. This includes working with internal and external stakeholders, functional managers, interdisciplinary team members, subject matter experts and third-party contractors in order to meet project deliverables according to budget and timelines.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor the performance of the new HIS and its impact on the organization, and make recommendations for further improvements or enhancements.
  • Partner with the leadership team on evolving a culture shift to support new models of care and service, including strategy, policy, and measures of success of digital initiatives
  • Seek opportunities to improve the interface between clients, clinical practice, and technology.
  • Provide regular updates to the Board, Senior Management and stakeholders on the progress of the HIS implementation, including any risks or issues that may arise.
  • Inspire an unrelenting focus on client experience through the digital transformation journey
  • Lead the selection and evaluation of vendors and solutions for the HIS implementation, ensuring that they meet the organization's requirements for functionality, security, and scalability.
  • Manages project risks and issues, and ensuring that the implementation is delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Articulate a digital transformation vision and strategy that will contribute to improved delivery of health services
  • Lead with broad insights and thorough knowledge related to digital transformation in healthcare
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, from executives to end-users, to ensure that technology solutions meet their needs and expectations.
  • Own the digital roadmap and ensure that digital initiatives support strategic priorities and transformation.

QUALIFICATIONS:


· 10 + years direct work experience in a leadership role working on large-scale change management, quality improvement, and health system projects, with a track record of success

· A degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. A master's degree or MBA is preferred, as it demonstrates a commitment to continued learning and professional development.

· Must have extensive knowledge of information technology systems, including hardware, software, networking, and security. They should also have experience with project management and be able to oversee complex technology projects.

· Must be able to understand the organization's goals and how technology can help achieve them. They should have experience in budgeting, resource management, and strategic planning.

· Must be able to identify and solve problems quickly and effectively. They should have a strong analytical mindset and be able to use data to inform decision-making.

· Must have experience in the Healthcare sector.

· Must aligned with the organization's values, mission, and culture. They should be able to build relationships and work collaboratively with other executives and departments.

· Experience in leading complex strategic projects – defining scope, setting priorities, evaluating and managing risks and monitoring performance, preferably with a health technology focus

· Strong understanding of key performance indicators (KPIs) and risk indicators

· Experience with managing process redesign related to major clinical systems implementations and the delivery of positive clinical change

· Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate the activities of multiple teams to accomplish deliverables and meet project deadlines

· Strong understanding of JBH Strategic Plan and Mission, Vision & Values

· Excellent communication, time management, and project management skills
