Job Description
Evolugen by Brookfield Renewable is seeking a Project Developer who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment to join our growing renewables development and transition investment platform in Canada. Reporting to the Senior Director, Business Development, you will be joining a small team of high-performing professionals collaborating closely in the execution of Brookfield Global Transition Fund’s investment and development strategies of new low carbon energy projects (e.g., wind, energy storage, solar, etc.). The successful candidate will support all pre-construction stages of project development, from greenfield development or acquisition through to commercialization and Final Investment Decision.


Responsibilities


  • Maintain and coordinate all required development activities and timelines while reporting on project development status to management via written briefings and participation in weekly management meetings and calls;
  • Work closely with the origination team to identify, negotiate, and close project offtake opportunities and provide support for RFP submittals;
  • Contribute to high-level screening of new business opportunities by compiling internal and third-party information as part of due diligence and presentation to Senior Management;
  • Manage project expenditures and develop, manage, and maintain project budgets, as well as supporting ongoing updates to the financial model;
  • Responsibilities include managing land acquisition, resource analysis, permitting, community support, interconnection, regulatory environment;


Requirements


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with an excellent academic record in a relevant field of study;
  • Two (2) to (5) years of experience with major infrastructure development, including renewables;


Qualifications


  • Comprehensive knowledge of the key factors that contribute to the success of renewable energy projects.
  • Proven track record in pitching projects to investors, clients, and other key stakeholders.
  • Experience in coordinating with multiple internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining steady progress on key project objectives;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders;
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills;
  • Ability to meet multiple objectives in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-based environment;
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn financial modelling in MS Excel;
  • Self-motivated, with a high level of initiative;
