Job Details
Position Title: Professor, Early Childhood Education
Status: FT Academic
Faculty/Department: Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness
Campus/Location: North Campus
Salary: Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the collective agreement for academic employees.
What You Will Do
The successful candidates will teach courses in the Early Childhood Education diploma and/or certificate programs. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include curriculum development, design/revise courses, lesson planning, assessing student progress and achievement, and classroom management. The successful candidates will be expected to establish an effective and innovative learning environment and work as collaborative team members. In addition, the successful applicants will be expected to play an active role in developing curriculum, strategic planning, and advising students in their field practicum courses, and support student advising, student recruitment, graduate placement. The candidates will be expected to further develop community partnerships, participate on a variety of committees, and advance college initiatives. These individuals will also contribute to the overall direction of the program, assisting with the promotion and marketing of the program, and developing and maintaining strong industry ties. Teaching will be assigned at the North campus.

What You Bring To The Role
The successful candidates will have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Studies, or a related program. They will have a minimum of five years of experience in the field of early childhood education and will be registered members (or demonstrate eligibility to become registered members) of the College of Early Childhood Educators. They will also have a minimum of three years of experience teaching at the postsecondary level, with a demonstrated record of teaching excellence and classroom innovation. Humber’s Early Childhood Education department prides itself on educating students in the values of global citizenship; therefore, research and/or teaching experience in the areas of special needs, social justice, anti-bias education, Indigenous knowledge, and/or nature education is essential.
In addition, the successful candidates will have engaging and effective teaching skills, demonstrated ability to coach and support students, demonstrated experience managing classroom dynamics, strong knowledge and application of current pedagogical principles, a student-focused approach and a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change. The successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of principles of equity and inclusion, be a collaborative team player, and be committed to a positive team culture. The successful candidates will possess well developed interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills and have demonstrated ability to contribute positively to curriculum development and delivery.
