Team & Job Overview


Across EDC we organize our business platforms into Families. Within the Finance Family, the Treasury Product Owner (PO) supports the liquidity and banking functions. Driven by the overall Finance Family/enterprise mission, the Treasury PO defines the strategic vision for the use of technology within the Treasury team and its user community, including Corporate Banking, Treasury Accounting, Liquidity and Market Risk and other related partners. The Treasury PO leads a small team of developers. This team, with support from other internal and external EDC technology groups, is responsible for developing and supporting key Treasury and banking software applications. The Treasury PO establishes the objectives and key results for their team to drive the direction and development of technology for EDC’s treasury and banking functions. The Treasury PO reports directly to the Treasurer. EDC’s treasury and banking functions are responsible for the management of billions of dollars of transactions (investments, funding and foreign exchange) in G7 and emerging market currencies.


A Successful Treasury PO


  • Possesses a deep understanding of the treasury and banking industries and builds close relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the team’s effort is aligned with strategic business outcomes.
  • Works closely within their team to ensure business value and user feedback is translated into new development when necessary.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the business priorities and aligns investments in support of those priorities.
  • Collaborates effectively with a wide range of internal and external business and technology stakeholders, understanding dependencies across stakeholders to properly coordinate and deliver platform results that fit with corporate and end user expectations.
  • Empowers team to be autonomous and self-organizing and ensures team members understand the business value they deliver.

  • Drives the optimization of EDC’s business technology platforms though their full life cycle to deliver maximum business value.
  • Uses a systematic approach to continuously assess platform capabilities against intersecting stakeholder needs and translates into a platform strategy and roadmap.
  • Maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to understand and influence priorities.


Key Responsibilities


  • Scopes the minimum viable product considering existing resource constraints and sustained product development
  • Defines and executes on an approved full lifecycle strategy and roadmap for business technology platforms of increased complexity, integration and business impact
  • Prioritizes the backlog of requests based on business value and continuously keeps the backlog up to date
  • Uses a systematic approach to understand internal and external customer needs, inform design and usability decisions, and identify interdependencies across teams to inform technology requirements that create business value
  • Defines priorities for platform backlog and leads a multi-disciplinary agile delivery stream responsible for the identified business technology platforms of a business line
  • Maintains relationships with and acts as a voice for internal and external customers, enabling effective coordination and communication which requires significant stakeholder management
  • Collaborates with Technology Leads to define the technical roadmap for the Product


Screening Criteria


  • Software design experience
  • Knowledge of EDC’s lines of business, processes & digital platforms is preferred
  • Completed an Undergraduate Degree in Commerce, Computer Science, Finance, Engineering or in a related field
  • Minimum 7 years experience delivering business solutions, product management, or other related experience
  • Advanced knowledge of agile development principles & practices, or similar methodologies
  • Familiar with financial software applications
  • Good written and verbal communication skills


Assets


  • Experience with object-oriented programming
  • SAFe Certification
  • Accounting/Financial designation (CPA, CFA)
  • Familiar with Corporate Treasury Operations
  • Experience with Integrated Development Environment (IDE)
  • Scrum Alliance
  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)


Salary Range


  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $90,544 - $120,725, plus a performance based incentive
