Job Description

Technical scrum master


IT Minds is a leading technology company dedicated to delivering innovative solutions for our clients. We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Technical Scrum Master to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities:

  • Guide and mentor software development teams in following sound software engineering principles within an agile (Scrum) process.
  • Interface with Scotiabank infrastructure teams to maintain and support infrastructure and services under management.
  • Collaborate within a dynamic team to actively participate and lead configurations and support the deployment of solutions according to designs.
  • Handle production support escalation during regular and off-hours on a rotational basis.
  • Lead design sessions and conduct code/design reviews to ensure the development of high-quality software.
  • Provide design and technical solutions for various deliverables using cutting-edge technologies.
  • Code, unit test, and deploy using the latest technology pipeline for Java/J2EE/microservices API.
  • Support enterprise-wide services, including authentication, provisioning, federation, and directory platforms.

Skills You Need To Succeed:

  • Proficiency with Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jira, Jenkins, Gradle, Bitbucket, Artifactory, etc.
  • Competent in enterprise application delivery and design techniques.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Spy, Reflection, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of DBMS (e.g., Oracle) and understanding of network topologies and common network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DIS, HTTP(S), SSH, etc.).
  • Strong proficiency in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Microservices, and Web services (REST and SOAP).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to lead teams toward resolution.
  • Proficiency in SQL/PL SQL database practices.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in developing and supporting large, complex, highly available enterprise systems.

Nice-to-have Skills:

  • Familiarity with cloud and container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes & GCP) as we aim to build self-serve products on a cloud platform.
  • Experience with Spring Batch, Scripting, and Batch Scheduler.

Requirements:

  • Banking industry experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Creative, resourceful, and innovative when tackling complex challenges and problem-solving.
  • Experience with Scale Agile Framework (SAFe) is an asset.
  • Experience with SDLC tools like JIRA and Confluence is an asset.
  • Experience working in complex, multi-project, multi-vendor, and multi-team environments.
  • Thorough understanding of Agile software development methodologies, values, and practices.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification, and/or PMP certification are assets.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall software development methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and time management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or Information Systems.
