Job Description
Are you an outstanding Process Engineer who is interested in exploring potential opportunities with one of Canada's leading Oil & Gas corporations?
Adecco is currently hiring full-time Process Engineers to work a long-term contract at one of Canada's largest petroleum refiners. Our client has several job openings in many of his refineries located in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Nanticoke, London, Sarnia and more. In this role, you will lead a design team in the development of basic process design specifications or provide oversight of an engineering contractor's technical deliverables during the front-end design / detailed engineering phases of projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establish organization and staffing process
  • Lead and/or perform process optimization studies to identify/evaluate capital/operating cost savings, process configuration alternatives, safety facilities requirements, etc.
  • Develop and maintain Heat & Material Balances, PFDs and preliminary flow Plans/P&IDs
  • Provide input and/or develop FEED plan
  • Participate in Hazard & Operability Reviews for new/modified facilities in support of existing plant facilities
  • Provide commissioning & start-up assistance for new/modified facilities, as required
  • Perform equipment ratings, incorporate safety considerations, field verifications and early equipment sizing
  • Provide technical oversight for engineering contractor's work during front-end engineering & design / detailed engineering to ensure consistency with Company methods & guidelines, project specifications & owner's requirements
  • Participate in the development of process design basis definition pre-FEED
  • Monitor and lead junior engineers in the development of process design specifications, including the development of heat & material balances, design flow plans, process equipment design, preliminary hydraulic balances, utility balances, basic process control & instrumentation, materials selection, safety facilities
  • Interface and provide input to cost & schedule estimates, execution basis
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as it applies to technical and business communications
  • Experience in heavy oil and extraction background upstream, midstream and in refining and chemicals, mineable oilsands and In Situ is preferred
  • Familiarity with tools like Pro II, Pegasys, Hysys, HTRI is an asset
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities
  • Capital project development experience is also a requirement
  • BS/MS degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent, required
  • Slurry Hydraulics experience is important
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience doing pre-FEED process design is a must
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
  • Experience in the petroleum refining/chemical process industry, with an engineering contractor serving these industries is a must.
