The Role: Process Engineer Co-op


Who are you?


Be part of a team that is tackling one of the largest challenges of our generation. As a Svante Process Engineer Co-op Student, you will apply your talents in ways that make a difference in our world by directly contributing toward technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Svante is developing and commercializing a technology to capture point-source CO2 emissions and accelerate the global transition to a lower-carbon economy.


Svante is developing an in-house dynamic process modeling software to simulate the RCTSA process for performance estimation, process optimization, RAM design and technology scale up etc.


Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:


  • Process and mass balance analysis application coding using python/MATLAB
  • Perform mass balance analysis for VTS testing.
  • Miscellaneous tasks as required.
  • Code testing and debugging.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve shared objectives.


Key Qualifications:


  • Experience: 4-8 months co-op/intern experience in a related industry is preferred
  • Programming experience (MATLAB, Python) is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to make sound recommendations.
  • Solid background in mass balance calculations.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good time management, effectively organizing, prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
  • Critical thinking and good judgment; Adaptable to change.
  • Education: Minimum 3rd year of Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills in establishing cooperative working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Excellent listening skills and strong attention to details.
  • Knowledge of process control and instrumentation.
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and diverse groups of stakeholders.
