Description And Requirements
We are looking for an on-site Premises Assistant (Caretaker) to join our facilities management team based in Columbus School & College, Chelmsford
You’ll:

• Support school and comply with school based procedures in the event of fire, flood, breaking and entering, accident or major damage, Ensuring that all areas within the confines of the site are free from litter and that all drains and gullies are free flowing and clean.
• Ensure safe access and egress on school grounds during periods of inclement weather.
• Take delivery of stores, materials and other goods and conveying them to their points of distribution
• Be available for ongoing evening/weekend lettings and have the flexibility to cover occasional lettings which may arise
• Undertake any other reasonable tasks and duties relevant to the post and grade as may be determined by the Premises Manager
• Be responsible for routine and non-routine opening of premises and grounds. Respond to calls outside normal working hours as a result of break-ins etc. and/or the setting off of the burglar alarm(s).
• Contribute to the smooth running of the School by carrying out a range of duties including security and supervision of the sites and related equipment. To complete planned and reactive maintenance and other duties including porterage and cleaning.
• Prepare the school premises and site for assemblies, meetings and out of school activities and clearing up after these activities.

We're looking for:

• Experience of working on HVAC equipment is desirable but not essential
• Basic computer skills
• Good knowledge of H&S Legislation and some knowledge of COSHH
• Experience of building maintenance and systems is desirable but not essential
