Role : PowerBI Developer

Location: Brampton, ON ( Hybrid - 2 days at office in a week)

As a power-BI developer, you are closely working with business prime to understand the reporting requirement and underline data requirements. Working with the Data Eng/Data Governance team to expose and aggregate the data on the reporting layer to build the reports in Power-BI.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in regular code reviews and stretch opportunities to mentor junior developers .
• Communicate with the product team to design new features and provide updates on development progress
• Participate in implementing processes, best practices, and tools to allow for multiple paths of delivery. i.e., create simplified, consistent, reusable, efficient and flexible solutions
• As a Power BI Developer, you would be responsible for creating interactive and visually appealing business intelligence reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (Daily scrums, backlog grooming, sprint planning, etc.)

Skills Needed -

• Power BI Desktop: Expertise in using Power BI Desktop to develop interactive reports and dashboards, create data models, and define data transformations using Power Query Editor.

• Power BI Service: Familiarity with the Power BI cloud service, including publishing reports, setting up data refresh schedules, managing workspaces, and sharing reports securely with stakeholders.

• Azure Data Sources: Ability to connect Power BI to various Azure data sources, including Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Data Warehouse (now Azure Synapse Analytics), Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake Storage, etc.

• Azure Analysis Services: Knowledge of using Azure Analysis Services (AAS) to create data models and OLAP cubes for more complex data analysis scenarios.

• Azure Data Factory: Understanding how to use Azure Data Factory to orchestrate data movement and data transformation workflows, and then connect Power BI to consume the processed data.

• Azure Databricks: Proficiency in using Azure Databricks to preprocess and transform big data before visualizing it in Power BI.

• Azure Stream Analytics: Ability to use Azure Stream Analytics for real-time data streaming and connecting streaming data to Power BI for real-time dashboards.

• Azure Active Directory (Azure AD): Knowledge of integrating Power BI with Azure AD for user authentication and role-based access control (RBAC).

• Azure SQL Database: Skill in using Azure SQL Database as a data source for Power BI reports and understanding how to optimize queries for better performance.

• Azure Key Vault: Understanding of Azure Key Vault for securely storing and managing credentials and secrets used in Power BI datasets.

• Power Automate (formerly Microsoft Flow): Knowledge of integrating Power BI with Power Automate to automate workflows and perform actions based on data insights.

• Azure Functions: Familiarity with Azure Functions to trigger Power BI data refresh or other actions programmatically.

• Data Security and Encryption: Awareness of Azure data security measures, including encryption, network security, and compliance standards, to ensure data protection in Power BI.

• Row-Level Security (RLS): Implementation of row-level security in Power BI reports to restrict data access based on user roles and permissions using Azure AD groups.

• Azure DevOps: Experience with Azure DevOps for version control and automated deployment of Power BI reports and datasets.

• Data Governance and Compliance: Understanding data governance best practices in the context of Azure and Power BI to meet regulatory requirements.

• Azure Cost Management: Awareness of managing costs associated with Azure services used in conjunction with Power BI
