Leader Name: Director, Portfolio Enablement


As ATB's next Portfolio Delivery Lead with People Places & Spaces (PP&S), you will report to the Director, Portfolio Enablement and uphold our portfolio level project delivery process, providing oversight and governance over complex cross-functional projects from ideation to close-out. You will bring exceptional project management and honed leadership skills to influence and rally cross-functional teams to deliver highly successful projects. You will own the development of up-front planning for new initiatives to ensure scope clarity, timelines and resourcing is in place prior to execution. You will assess impacts of projects in relation to existing spaces, systems, technology and processes and ensure all impacted stakeholders are considered prior to kick-off. You will provide high-level governance over in-flight projects within the portfolio to facilitate project milestone sessions, monitor the portfolio roadmap and capture project benefits.This is one of three new roles on our Portfolio Enablement team that is evolving to provide governance, planning and project support holistically across PP&S's Portfolio of work. We are excited for your ability to bring structure and alignment to elevate how we execute and deliver projects.


PP&S is ATB's real estate and facilities business unit and leads: real estate strategy, workplace optimization & experience, spatial design, construction, project management, leasing & subleasing management, facilities management & maintenance, asset management, facility operations, occupational health & safety, and physical security. PP&S oversees ATB's 1.5 million square feet of space and the team is deeply connected to transforming banking through ATB's client facing locations, and leading the way with corporate workplace transformation, both of which bring ATB's mandate to life and make it possible for Albertans.


Portfolio Delivery Lead Accountabilities


  • Maintain a macro level view of all projects across the portfolio to monitor project dependencies, portfolio capacity and portfolio project roadmap.
  • Formalize and uphold a governance model for the PP&S portfolio project delivery process including the development and continual evolution of key project gates and artifacts; may also include supporting other cross-functional governance models.
  • Work to align and connect our project delivery process with enterprise standards and best practices. Develop processes, training programs and tracking standards to support delivery leads accountable for projects.
  • Lead the planning phase for PP&S's most high impact and complex projects that are on our strategic blueprint (operating plan and long-term roadmap).
  • Prepare, contribute to and update project documentation such as business cases, project charters, process documentation, project scopes, plans and timelines.
  • Assess project health and provide surge capacity when required - this role will frequently be faced with opportunities to jump in to keep momentum of projects.
  • Provide project management expertise, advice and coaching to project leads within the portfolio that are accountable for delivery of projects.
  • Facilitate project milestone meetings at each gate of projects (Planning, Execution, Go-Live, Post-Implementation, Retrospective & Reporting, Close-out).
  • Sheppard in-flight changes to ensure continuity across the portfolio's process architecture.
  • Uphold the project benefit model, work with project leads to capture baseline, target and actuals for all major projects and connect the story and benefits back to the quarterly KPI dashboard.

As The Ideal Candidate You Possess


  • Ability to become an expert in the intricacies of end-to-end processes and how they relate and interconnect, including any downstream impacts for each project/initiative.
  • Experience using a range of project management tools such as Smartsheets and Jira.
  • PMP and/or Business Analyst certification(s) would be an asset.
  • Experience using a range of process mapping tools such as ARIS, MIRO and Lucidcharts.
  • 7+ years of project management experience leading multiple projects and/or programs is required.
  • Experience and desire to operate as an informal leader, with proven ability to drive results without a formal leadership role or direct reports.
  • University degree in business or a related field is required.
  • Experience with or desire to learn the details of real estate, construction, occupational health & safety and facility management is required.
  • Extensive leadership of business and data analysis practices, tools, and techniques such as requirement gathering, business case preparation, process mapping and benefits mapping and realization.
  • Experience using G-Suite would be an asset
