CKF Inc. has eight manufacturing facilities located in North America with a total workforce in excess of 900 employees. Our operations produce foam, plastic and molded pulp products in the areas of retail, foodservice, produce, and protective packaging industries.
Our Rexdale facility is seeking a skilled and experienced Plastic Technologist to join our team. As a Plastic Technologist, you will play a key role in the design and development of thermoformed products and provide hands-on engineering support for our production facility.
Responsibilities:
Design and Drawing
· Design and Drawing: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create detailed drawings of thermoformed products.
· Utilize CAD software and other relevant tools to develop accurate and precise designs that meet customer requirements and manufacturing feasibility.
Thermoforming and Extrusion Process
· Collaborate with the senior processing team to oversee and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures for thermoforming and extrusion processes.
· Participate in process execution, providing support to the production team for efficient and high-quality production.
· Train and guide the production team on best practices, process improvements, and equipment utilization to minimize waste and enhance productivity.
· Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to address equipment issues and ensure optimal functionality.
Engineering Support
· Provide hands-on technical support to the production facility, working closely with the engineering team.
· Collaborate with colleagues to identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
Documentation and Reporting
· Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including product specifications, process guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and engineering reports.
· Maintain accurate records of design iterations, process changes, quality control data, and any relevant documentation.
· Provide clear and concise reports on project progress, challenges, and recommendations to stakeholders.
Collaboration and Communication
· Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including engineering, production, and quality assurance personnel, to ensure seamless coordination and execution of projects.
· Communicate technical information and project updates to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
· Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, sharing knowledge and best practices with team members.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in Plastic Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
· Proven experience in product design, thermoforming, and extrusion processes.
· Proficiency in CAD software for product design and drawing (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
· Familiarity with quality control methodologies and tools.
· Analytical mindset with great problem-solving skills.
· Hands-on experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
