The role is responsible for:ensuring the completeness of the full cycle payroll for 1200+ employees on a bi-weekly basis. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role will handle all review & senior aspects of the payroll function and will ensure the payroll team will have employees paid correctly and on time.

The payroll specialist will assist the accounting department with the day-to-day efficiency of the department by assisting in running reports, general filing duties, data entry, and collaboration for better reporting and reconciliation.


Main Duties:

  • Manages the yearend process for payroll for all restaurant locations via the ADP dashboard.
  • Manages employee questions involving payroll including addressing employees pay-related concerns and provide accurate payroll information
  • The payroll specialist will be responsible for managing the part time payroll clerk and ensuring all their responsibilities are being met
  • Responsible for review of the junior payroll clerks work for payroll processing
  • Assists in handling inquiries from Revenue Quebec and the CRA. This will include management and preparation (where necessary) of CRA payroll audits.
  • Verify payroll record changes by recording changes that includes salary increases, wage increases and benefits Responsible to ensure all payroll deductions have been remitted to the appropriate government agencies
  • Assisting finance team with ad hoc duties
  • Ensuring all payroll is submitted on a bi-weekly basis for the companies’ employees & subcontractors in Canada and US
  • To ensure the payroll deadline is met, assistance with the processing and completion of payroll on a bi-weekly basis will be necessary
  • Develop, manage, and maintain comprehensive payroll records
  • Show initiative by routinely analyzing payroll process with a critical eye to ensure efficiency and provide recommendations
  • Liaising with other departments when required
  • Responsible to ensure all year end payroll related tax slips and filings have been processed including T4/T4A/WCB


Qualifications

  • Medium to high proficiency in Excel
  • Strong organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Able to work under pressure and meet set deadlines
  • Detail oriented individual with ability to multitask
  • Completed or working towards PCP certification
  • Able to successfully work individually or as an effective member of a team
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • 2-3 years in the restaurant industry is an asset but not a requirement
  • 2-3 years multi-industry experience in a payroll function in Canada and US
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at the organization and the suppliers
  • Experience with ADP.
