Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

This Part-Time position will work with musicianship faculty to teach and grade one section of MUSC 2276.03 Musicianship 2a, from September 1 to December 31, 2023. Each class will meet for one-hour, three times a week. The instructor will work closely with the other musicianship instructor(s) and full-time faculty to plan and teach similar class content each week to ensure students in all sections progress through the same material at the same pace. The instructor is required to follow the provided schedule, method of assessment, and course outline.

This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

Qualifications/Requirements Of Position

Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Music or an equivalent, with special training and/or significant experience in the teaching of aural skills (solfege, sight-singing, dictation, and ear training), and keyboard skills (pop/jazz/lead sheet chording, scales, score reading, and figured bass). Applicants should be comfortable in a wide variety of styles including ‘classical’ but also musical theatre, jazz, contemporary classical, and popular music. Experience with arranging and conducting small groups is an asset.
