Job Description

The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking an Occupational Hygiene Technologist for our client’s mining operation in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a fixed-term unionized position, full time, up to one year, with the possibility of extension. The incumbent will work on-site, Monday to Friday.


Accountabilities:

The Occupational Hygiene Technologist anticipates, recognizes, evaluates, and recommends control for all workplace hazards and risks that may affect the health of the workforce. Maintains a key role in the implementation and maintenance of Site Management Hygiene systems. Develops and maintains occupational hygiene procedures and quality control programs. Carries out systematic screening level or detailed risk assessments. Leads and directs by performing, organizing, and co-coordinating plant hygiene projects and investigations. Reports results in writing, including interpretations of results and recommendations. Projects defined in terms of guidelines only.


Qualifications, Experience & Requirements:

Personal commitment to health, safety, training, and continuous improvement is key to be successful in this role.

  • Profound knowledge and ability to use all workplace monitoring equipment.
  • Must have COHST or ROHT certification.
  • Proficiency of Microsoft office.
  • Thorough knowledge of OHSA and WHMIS
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth understanding of the site working environment.
  • First Aid training is an asset.
  • A minimum three-year technology diploma in chemistry, metallurgy, engineering, or a related science.
  • A minimum seven years of technical, process or occupational hygiene experience is required.
  • Ability to work as a team in a fast-paced environment.
