About This Opportunity


Cenovus’s New Grad Program aims to attract, develop and retain exceptional new grads to build a top talent pipeline for the company . The program provides new grads with a broad understanding of Cenovus’s core business through challenging work assignments, training and development, field exposure and the opportunity to develop a large network of contacts through networking and mentorship opportunities!


Our Program consists of three consecutive 12-month rotational assignments that span Cenovus’s varied business areas. Upon completion of the three-year program, you will be matched to a permanent role within the organization. This role will be based on business need and relocation may be required. 


Rotations for Geologists-in-Training can be in multiple business units throughout the organization. Projects will encompass a wide variety of both exploration and development, in clastic and carbonate plays throughout North America

Responsibilities


Geologists-in-Training will be assigned projects that fulfill business needs and will work under the direct supervision of a Geologist. The responsibilities of the position will vary depending on the business unit, but may include:


  • Log interpretation, core description, mapping, and data analysis.
  • Working on a wide variety of both exploration and development, in clastic and carbonate plays throughout North America
  • Presentation of technical work to team and senior management


Qualifications/Education


Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications: 


  • Must have an undergraduate geology or geoscience related degree obtained by May 31, 2024 and completed within the last 2 years (2022, 2023 or 2024).
  • Available to begin work June 2024
  • Exposure to mapping software such as Petrel, Accumap, or GeoScout is considered an asset.
  • Exposure to data analytics tools are preferred (i.e. Python).
  • Must be studying a related field (Geology, Hydrology, Earth Science).
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
