Mortgage Underwriter Jobs

Our client in the financial services space is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join their team! This dynamic and ever growing company is looking to expand their team. The successful candidate would have minimum 3 years experience in residential mortgage underwriting preferably with an alternative lender. This role offers a competitive salary along with a fully on-site work model located in Hamilton, Ontario.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Preparing mortgage commitments, including appropriate mortgage conditions, within expected timelines.
• Assisting other members of the mortgage team with daily tasks, as required.
• Ensuring that the mortgage files are compliant with underwriting guidelines and procedures, as well as ensuring that legal, AML, ATF, and KYC requirements have been met.
• Responding to mortgage broker inquiries in a timely manner and providing exceptional customer service to maintain strong broker relationships.
• Organizing and/or participating in business development activities and events
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of AML/ATF/KYC procedures.
• Daily review of incoming residential mortgage applications and supporting documents to make an informed recommendation for the approval or decline of an application.

Qualifications and Skills

• 3+ years’ mortgage experience in the alternative mortgage market

• Proficiency in MS Office

• Completion of a post-secondary degree preferably in a financial field

• Knowledge of fraud risk in the mortgage industry
