Mechanical Maintenance Planner - Contract

Summary

The Mechanical Maintenance Planner supports the St Marys Plant by planning, preparing, and providing detailed plans and schedules for maintenance activities to improve plant overall productivity, efficiency, and cost.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Includes the following; other duties may be assigned as required.

• Ensures maintenance archiving and filing systems are maintained and up to date; maintains and updates the spare parts list in SAP.
• Assists in the department's forecasting
• Initiates continuous improvement activities in SAP.
• Tracks key performance indicators (KPI) tracking for mechanical and electrical maintenance.
• Prepares lists of required materials, tools, and equipment when planning work orders.
• Maintains the SAP PM system and generates work orders; Initiates and tracks work orders.
• Review, revise and develop job plan, routes and preventive/predictive maintenance frequencies for all departments based on resource availability and or cause analyses.
• Creates maintenances schedules; establishes work sequences and lead time to complete major inspections and repairs.
• Establishes and maintains a system for proper storage of materials, tools, and equipment of pre-work and parts for pending work. Works with Supervisors and Stores department in doing this.
• Obtains quotes, enters PRs and performs follow-up for material and equipment required for maintenance.
• Confers with department Supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
• Tracks maintenance costs for all departments.
• Identifies operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
• Acts as an internal audit for ISO & safety audits, as required
• Acts as Contact person for scheduling the activities of all facility maintenance services, including production, mechanical maintenance and electrical maintenance and other general services do be done at the plant.
• Provides administrative assistance to Mechanical Maintenance with functions such as invoice processing, cost control, filing and data management, and vacation schedules in a timely manner.
• Completes Planned Work Observations as per schedule.
• Ensures that contractors meet safety requirements, through orientation and site supervision.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position participates in a rotating on- call list shared by other salary Maintenance positions. As such, there will be occasions when they attend to the plant to attend to emergency situations and planned shutdowns. In these instances, they provide supervision to the hourly maintenance personnel.

Education, Experience And Skill Requirements

• Strong Communication skills
• Strong working knowledge of SAP maintenance software, MS Office, and MS Project.
• Experience working and supervising in a union environment is an asset.
• Technical or Engineering degree; or one to two years related experience and/or training in plant maintenance/planning; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
