Material Handler - Day Shift

Major Responsibilities:

• Carries out duties according to procedures and work instructions covering the tasks relating to the position’s function as outlined in the department’s quality manual, in accordance with Griffith Management System requirements.
• Narrow Aisle Reach Truck experience-preferred
• Checks that all materials are correctly stored and transferred using the RF
• Reports directly to the Supervisor, of Griffith Foods on an ongoing basis and communicates all relevant matters pertaining to Operations
• Transfers material/finished goods from bagging and/or bakeries into inventory, etc.
• Communicates internally with other departments for the purpose of gathering, distributing materials and maintaining inventory
• Follows material movement practices, maintains extensive knowledge of storage, movement and safe handling of goods
• Maintains inventory counts and levels
• Adheres to all Security and Health & Safety policies
• Keeps forklift clean, tidy & safe
• Performs duties as required within shipping/receiving and material handling
• Requires lifting of up to 25 kg on a regular basis
• Keeps material and racks, clean & tidy

What Will You Be Doing?

• Operate forklift as required
• With training provided, operate, and maintain equipment to deliver safe food production, on time and in full
• Other duties may be required as assigned
• Trouble shoot equipment to resolve issues proactively
• Measure and weighing ingredients for processing, transporting of finished product including attention to packaging and labels
• Heavy lifting (up to 50lbs) including standing for long periods with repetitive movement
• Follow company Food Safety Policy to ensure compliance to all Food Safety requirements while wearing PPE (ear plugs, eye protection, uniforms, safety boots and masks when required)
• Observe changes to colour/texture/odor of products

What Will You Bring?

• Forklift license required
• Microsoft DAX or other ERP knowledge an asset
• Team player with a keen desire to meet deadlines, strong decision maker with excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of basic mathematical foundations required
• Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment is consideredan asset
• High school diploma required
