Innovate Calgary is the technology transfer and business incubator center for the University of Calgary. As part of the Office of the Vice-President (Research) portfolio, we work with University of Calgary researchers, students, and other members to bridge the gap between discovery and create economic and societal impact. We are currently accepting applications for the following position:
Marketing and Communications Lead:
Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, this position plays a key role in the development and execution of Innovate Calgary’s marketing and communications strategies. This role provides advice to other Innovate Calgary teams and develops the processes to ensure that all Innovate Calgary materials and publications are high-quality and consistent with Innovate Calgary brand standards.
This role requires close collaboration with the rest of the Innovate Calgary team and partners within our ecosystem, including the University of Calgary.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, creative, and passionate about storytelling.
Key Responsibilities:

• Support the management of the marketing budget.
• Collaborate with partners, funders, participants, and other key stakeholders to leverage storytelling and promotional opportunities, including digital content and media relations opportunities.
• Produce print and digital marketing materials, including writing and designing marketing collateral, articles, and reports; creation of video/audio scripts and content; and creation of social media content.
• Support the Head of Marketing and Communications with media relations plans and activities.
• Create and execute marketing and communications plans to support all Innovate Calgary’s programs and initiatives.
• Manage the Innovate Calgary website and other communications channels, including newsletters, digital marketing campaigns and social media channels.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media platforms and website content strategies and trends, and experience managing multiple content channels. Experience using WordPress is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of multiple teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience creating and managing the implementation of marketing and communications plans.
• Previous experience working with startups and entrepreneurs an asset.
• 3-5 years of related work in marketing, communications, or public relations.
• Previous knowledge of Salesforce an asset.
• Post-secondary degree in a related field is an asset.
• Strong ability to design workback and production schedules and exceptional time management skills.
• Experience using design and production software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Canva.
• Strong writing and editing skills for a variety of platforms.
