About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Digital Enablement, the Manager, Opportunity and Value Capture is responsible to work with business leaders and stakeholders across Downstream and corporate service functions to develop executable technology strategies and ensure value delivery.

The preferred candidate will apply their significant industry and operational knowledge in conjunction with their expertise in applied technology solutions to identify, scope, quantify, and lead new Digital Enablement Program strategies. This position plays a central role in developing a well-structured, aligned, and coordinated long-term plan for Downstream Manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

• Develop stakeholder partnerships and strategies to ensure program activities are jointly prioritized, and thoroughly planned with consideration to overall Cenovus activities.
• Design value analysis models to quantify and validate benefits realized from the completion of program initiatives.
• Collaborate with industry and solution partners to maintain a high level of awareness of emerging technology innovation
• Provide subject matter expertise of the digital technology space as input to effective program decision making
• Partner with executives, business leaders, and stakeholders to synthesize areas of business opportunity into coordinated and executable solution strategies
• Maintain and provide insight to potential synergies and impacts from projects and programs running parallel to the Program
• Assess 3rd party capabilities and vendor solutions in support of the Digital Enablement Program roadmap
• Collaborate with partners to shape innovative approaches and lead cross-functional teams through initial project Opportunity Framing and Analysis
• Develop clear business problem statements, opportunity scope, and requirements using standardized methods
• Complete analysis and estimation of total implementation costs, level-of-effort, and TCO for new opportunities in partnership with Program Management and Readiness & Sustainment functions.
• Deliver clear, consistent, and timely value realization reporting for the program
• Build and maintain a framework to efficiently prioritize new areas of opportunity that allows for rapid progression.
• Verify, supervise, and measure program outcomes in relation to original business cases to advise forecasting and forward planning.

Qualifications:

• Ability to influence culture of performance through structured work processes that are relevant, reportable, and measurable
• Minimum 16 years of experience, including leadership roles, within the Energy industry, innovation, and/or R&D
• Implement responsibilities according to Cenovus's Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Commitments
• Delivery of Executive and Board-level materials
• Experience within upgrading and refining engineering, operations and maintenance would be an asset
• Broad expertise in innovative theories related to operational performance, reliability, and digital transformation
• BSc in Engineering is required
• Master of Engineering and/or MBA would be considered an asset.
• Economic modeling and portfolio management experience
• Ability to travel on a semi-frequent basis
• Proven experience as a strategic business opportunity manager or similar role requiring business case development and project value assessment
• Excellent project management, scheduling, and time management skills
