Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist to join the Medical Imaging department at Burnably Hospital, in Burnaby, BC. Apply today to join our team!


As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist with VCH you will
  • Receiving and completing requisitions,
  • Monitoring patient during procedures and monitoring equipment performance.
  • Entering relevant data into the radiology information system,
  • May be responsible for the evening, night and weekend shift.
  • Operating computerized imaging equipment including processing and archiving of acquired data,
  • Perform MRI examinations in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.
  • Perform duties such as;
  • Preparing examination trays and patients for specific procedures,


Education & Experience


  • Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice and one (1) year recent, related experience including supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current certification with CAMRT (Magnetic Resonance Imaging).
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.


Knowledge & Abilities


  • Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.
  • Demonstrated computer skills with current computer applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current MRI theory and practices within a client/family centred model of care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/radiology information systems, i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop procedure protocols and manuals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with medical imaging equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations.
  • Demonstrated skill in MRI techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.


The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.


As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Community Health Worker to join the Sunshine Coast Home Support team in Sechelt, BC. Apply today to join our team! As a Community Care Assistant at Vancouver Coastal Health you will


  • Motivate, encourage, and involve clients in their care.
  • Collaborate with the health care team, clients and their caregivers to maximize independence with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
  • Work under the direction of the Supervisor/Coordinator/Manager or delegate to provide home support services to clients.
  • Assist clients with varied levels of care, observe, and report significant changes in the client’s presentation.
  • Provide input and feedback in the care planning process to the health care team.

Education & Experience


  • Current/Active Registration with BC Community Health Worker and Care Aide Registry.
  • Experience interacting with persons with dementia, geriatric and/or palliative population will be an asset.
  • Must have Valid BC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle, as local area travel may be required.
  • Graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program.


Knowledge & Abilities


  • Demonstrated ability to practice from a harm reduction approach.
  • Ability to organize workload priorities within a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of client-centered care and promoting independence.
  • Basic technology literacy and ability to operate a computerized client care information system and cellular phone.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in verbal, nonverbal, and written skills through a variety of communication methods (e.g. paper and/or electronic chart, telephone and in-person).
  • Knowledge of patient centered care with people with dementia.
  • Ability to respond effectively and appropriate in a workplace setting.
  • Demonstrates correct use of body-mechanics and knowledge of injury prevention.
  • Knowledge in workplace violence prevention including personal safety techniques.
  • Ability to perform home management skills (e.g. vacuuming, sweeping, preparing meals, etc.).
  • Knowledge and ability to operate mechanical lifts, following safe work procedures.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to motivate clients and encourage progression through therapeutic goals.
  • Basic knowledge of self-care and motivational support.
  • Ability to take direction from the health care team and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply culturally safe and competent care, including when working with Indigenous peoples.
