Job Description
The learning facilitator is a regulated health care professional who creates a dynamic learning environment at HHS and drives excellence in patient care delivery in accordance with Best Practice guidelines, clinical standards of care and Accreditation standards. The facilitator will apply the HHS Interprofessional Development Model in developing, coordinating and evaluating education programs using leading-edge approaches to education and knowledge translation as well as innovation, technology, research and quality improvement tools. The learning facilitator will work collaboratively with the interprofessional clinical and leadership teams to achieve HHS strategic priorities. The Learning Facilitator will support onboarding of new hires at RJCHC and MUMC.
  • Demonstrated expertise in quality improvement and change management methodology.
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills for team development and practice coaching.
  • Minimum of 5 years recent healthcare experience including clinical experience in pediatrics (e.g., medical/surgical clinics, mental health, rehabilitation. and/or community bases services) within the last 5 years.
  • Regulated health care professional in good standing with a health regulatory body in Ontario, with the associated academic preparation for the discipline (minimally a baccalaureate degree in the discipline). Master’s degree in education or related specialty is preferred. Faculty appointment with a university or college is an asset.
  • Demonstrated skill in curriculum design, implementation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated use of educational technology including computer systems and presentation software.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including project management, problem solving, critical thinking, conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • Excellent command of adult learning principles and group process dynamics.

Unit Summary
McMaster Children's Hospital is the regional academic centre for pediatric acute care, rehabilitation, developmental and mental health services. The Extensive Needs (Mi-Care) Program is comprised of Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) and Ministry of Health (MOH) funded services for individuals up to the age of 18, whose needs cannot be met in a single service stream and requires an integrated approach across Mental, Behavioural and Developmental Health. The Mi-Care Program supports a culture of innovation, family-centered service and evidenced based interventions
