Lead Architect Jobs

Overview

As the Lead Architect, you will be responsible for development of architectural designs from concept and lead its delivery through to construction phases. You will be responsible for approving and professionally stamping all designs being developed and responsible for a wide range of projects throughout the province.

Key Responsibilities

• Other tasks and duties as assigned. These duties may fall out of the scope as described to support the business in whatever capacity deemed required.
• Ensure safety is of top priority and work is carried out in accordance with the Health and Safety Act and Regulations, building codes, as well as Department standards and polices.
• Perform all aspects of architectural design, including conceptual studies, programming, schematic documents, design development documents, and construction documents.
• Identify, analyze and mitigate project risks.
• Develop strong relationships within the company and with our clients. This includes working side-by-side in a team environment with our managing principals, project managers, architects, contractors, and emerging professionals on active production.
• Lead your project team of professionals in resolving issues and removing roadblocks.
• Complete project designs on time and within budgets
• Responsible for leading building projects in their design, development, and realization phase for a variety of projects sizes.
• Lead the development of integrated design proposals, continuous updating of a building information model, preparing a variety of output / drawings throughout the project, while leading and mentoring others and collaborating with team members to contribute to the final deliverables as required.
• Collaborate with engineers and consultants to assure construction ready drawings are completed on all projects

Qualifications

Job Requirements

• Licensed in British Columbia and/or Saskatchwen, or willingness to obtain the license in both provinces.
• Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field & Registered Architect.

Experience

• 5 years applicable experience in designing buildings through all phases including construction.
• 5 years experienced as a licensed Architect in Canada (OAA, AIBC, AAA, SAA, OR MAA)
• Experience in applying national or local provincial building codes and permitting.
• 5 years applicable experience in designing buildings through all phases including construction.
• Strong communications and ability to explain complex concepts and technical issues.
• Experience in designing any building types of the following occupancies: industrial, assembly, business & personal services.

Working Conditions

• General office environment in the Calgary
• Travel to project sites throughout Western Canada will be required.
