Job Description
Labourers/Track Maintainers with Cando perform a variety of railway related tasks. The Labourer/Track Maintainers ensures safety is a high priority at all times and procedures are respected and followed.
Roles And Responsibilities
  • Learn and operate equipment as required
  • Use track tools safely and efficiently
  • Advise when services are needed on truck or equipment; perform daily maintenance on equipment
  • Participate in daily job briefings
  • Perform labouring tasks involved in support services for a class 1 railway
  • Dump ballast from railcars and distribute on tracks
  • Transport the team to and from various locations; load the equipment and secure for transport
Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
  • Be physically fit with the ability to lift up to 100 pounds
  • Mechanically inclined; capable of performing troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Ability to work throughout Canada for extended periods of time; work long hours in extreme conditions harsh from weather and in isolated locations
  • Willingness to adapt to new technological changes and improvements and participate in training and self-development programs
  • Able to work as a team player and take direction from foremen and supervisors
  • Understand, record, and apply oral and written instructions; document work activities, and prepare required reports or work orders
Education & Experience
  • Ability to pass and maintain clean drug and alcohol testing
  • Possess or able to secure eRailsafe, CROR, and First Aid/CPR certifications
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver's license
