Journeyman Powerline Technician's - Transmission

Forbes Bros Ltd. is seeking multiple qualified Journeyman Powerline Technician's - Transmission (full-time, permanent) to support upcoming projects in the Alberta and Saskatchewan regionS.

The ideal candidate will either have previous experience as in the transmission industry and be responsible for meeting daily deadlines as outlined by the project needs. The candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of transmission powerline construction, problem-solving skills, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Properly installing line switches, in-line floaters, in-line disconnects, modify switches, also install and remove jumpers from clearance points
• Plan daily activities, assess site hazards, ensure hazards are eliminated and/or controlled and communicated to all workers on site
• Frequently works with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others
• Perform other tasks related to this function as assigned
• Working on energized transmission lines from 60kv up to 500kv
• Inspect and maintain live line tools and equipment for daily work activities
• Slack/tension string overhead conductor, sets poles, and anchors
• Ability to climb different types of structures and possess the necessary tools to do so
• Ability to read prints for site layouts and various structure types, including wood
• Ensure Forbes ongoing effort to improve workplace safety is carried out & never compromising on safety in all aspects of our every day
• Repairing, removing, and replacingtransmission structures on both energized and de-energized lines
• Understands and can develop grounding procedures and install/remove grounding safety on de-energized circuit

What We Are Looking For

• Able and willing to travel to required remote project sites and work extended periods of time and overtime and/or weekend hours as needed
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team member while equally motivated working independently
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of Pre-Access D&A testing, presenting a valid Driver's License and an acceptable drivers abstract
• Ability to distinguish between colors
• Certification - Journeyman Powerline Technician, required
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a Journeyman in the trade with knowledge of transmission construction, required
• Able and willing to perform manual labour in varying weather conditions and environments, inclusive of heavy lifting and working at various heights and confined spaces
