The Janitor maintains the cleanliness of the facility, property and or grounds in compliance with applicable standards. MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL ATTAINED: The successful job applicant will have completed Public School. NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable. SPECIAL LICENSES, DIPLOMAS, CERTIFICATIONS OR REQUIREMENTS: The successful applicant will hold/have:

• Ensures the general upkeep of the facility such as cleaning floors, washrooms, windows, dusting, collects and disposes of garbage, vacuums
• Checks, cleans, moves, arranges and dusts furniture as required
• Exposure to toxic chemicals
• Physical attacks by others
• Universal Precautions
• Dealing with angry people
• Isolation and monotony
• Spot washes accessible walls, strips and waxes floors and shampoos carpet
• Electrical hazards
• Odors
• Use ear/eye protection (goggles)
• Sharp objects (e.g. needle pricks)
• See Precautionary Measures MINIMUM PRIOR RELATED EXPERIENCE: The incumbent must have the following experience before hire: Up to three months of prior related experience, including previous cleaning experience and familiarity with cleaning supplies and procedures. PHYSICAL EFFORT/DEXTERITY REQUIRED: The performance of the job requires frequently operating industrial cleaning equipment and tools, mopping/sweeping, bending/twisting/lifting, shovelling snow etc. CONCENTRATION REQUIRED: The performance of the job requires moderate to high attention when using motorized equipment, handling hazardous chemicals, and using non-motorized equipment and general cleaning. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The incumbent's work environment is typically in the entire facility and surrounding property designated. The incumbent will work under the following disagreeable conditions:
• Verbal abuse
• Ensures the general upkeep of external property such as mowing lawns, keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice, cleaning main floor outside windows, picking up litter, sweeping sidewalks, gardening/watering and pruning shrubs, raking
• Use gloves
• Moving objects
• Repetitive strain injuries (e.g. back, wrist) PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: The incumbent must take the following precautionary measures (in addition to health and safety rules):
• Exposure to infectious diseases
• Reports safety concerns and repair issues (e.g. furniture and fixtures)
• Use fume masks where appropriate
• Restocks washroom supplies
• Various weather conditions
• Eye wash stations
• Exposure to toxic chemicals (e.g. toxic spills)
• Performs other duties as assigned NOTE: Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties.
• Checks doors and windows to ensure building security
• Washrooms (i.e. human waste) The incumbent may have little to no travel required. EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS: The job incumbent may be exposed to the risk of moderate to severe injury or illnesses due to:
