Job Description
Prodomax Automation Ltd. is currently seeking a Network & Systems Specialist to join our team.


Located in Barrie, Ontario, we are a specialized industrial engineering firm focused on designing complex automation with a blue-chip customer base since 1971. Operating from two facilities totaling 200,000 square feet with 200+ employees; we are ISO 9001:2015 certified.


JENOPTIK, our parent company, is an integrated photonics company that employs approximately 4,000 people with representatives in over 80 countries and operates in three photonic-based divisions: Light and Optics, Light and Production and Light and Safety.

Key Duties & Responsibilities


  • Repair and recover from system or software failures
  • Participate in corporate IT projects and teamwork with both regional and HQ IT colleagues
  • Create and maintain documentation for all infrastructure technology
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot network, hardware and software issues
  • Execute network security measures to protect data, software and hardware, and educate employees on risks and precautions
  • Exemplify the company’s PSI’s, work ethic and commitment to service excellence in all activities and in interactions with other departments
  • Assist ERP team - copy databases, create users
  • Provide support for data management, backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity
  • Ensure licensing compliance
  • Interface with external vendors/contractors
  • Provide internal and external customers with timely technical support and guidance
  • Other duties as required.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues
  • Coordinate and participate in managing the enterprise directory services and integration of new acquisitions
  • Perform application upgrades and testing
  • Assist in design and security features of server room
  • Monitor servers and applications for stability and take proactive measures to prevent issues
  • Maintain network and system security (On-call when needed)
  • Install, configure, and maintain server hardware, software, and infrastructure services in accordance with best practices


Experience And Technical Skills


  • Post-Secondary Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • VMware Horizon and HP Thin Clients
  • Design and implementation of IT Infrastructure systems for new and existing sites
  • Microsoft SCCM
  • Knowledge of Firewall Management
  • Knowledge of Virtualization Environments, Microsoft Environments, Active Directory and Windows Server
  • SonicWALL NSA series
  • Dell and Cisco Switches, VLAN configuration and troubleshooting
  • VMware VCenter 7
  • Windows systems operations and administration, active directory, DNS, DHCP
  • Veeam backup solutions
  • Network protocols and technologies, data communication fundamentals and operation
  • Meraki Access Points and MX
  • Bitdefender Gravity Zone antivirus
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP Network Protocols
  • Experience on Azure and O365
  • Mobile device management tools
  • Minimum five years related system and network administration experience
