Invest in Canada is looking for an Investor Services Advisor to strengthen investment promotion and attraction into Canada from United States. Reporting to the Market Director, the Investor Services Advisor manages client accounts and provides investment facilitation services to various types of investments. The Advisor manages strong working relationships with Government stakeholders and internal colleagues to advance investment decisions and put forward Canada as a leading destination. The Advisor serves as an investor’s primary point of contact for navigating the investment process and acts in a project management capacity during the location selection process.
Duties and responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities for this role may include but are not limited to the following:
- Manages a wide range of complex client accounts which entails client meetings, proposals, material development, internal client service discussions, and coordination regional representatives.
- Establishes and maintains strong relationships with companies in the US interested in investing in the Canadian market and facilitates the network connections within the FDI ecosystem.
- Participates in the development on investment pitches, sector strategies and outgoing communications.
- Manages strong working relationships with the Investment Officers in the Trade Commissioner Service and stakeholders in the market to enable investment in Canada.
- Presents to senior executives at large multinational organizations who are considering Canada as an investment location.
- Tracks activities within the CRM system and ensures information within the system is up to date and ready to be reported on throughout the year.
- Provides input into the development of a market action plan including events, meetings, and ongoing engagement in the market throughout the year.
- Conducts market research that are of strategic significance for Canada and the US.
- Engages with global business leaders and key government contacts to establish strong rapports and maintain existing relationships.
- Liaises with internal teams including Invest in Canada’s leadership team to share information and collaborate on ongoing priorities and projects.
Requirements:
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients in both the private and public sectors.
- Knowledge of government departments, programs, and processes.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Graduate degree is considered an asset (MBA, Master of Economics, or in a related field)
- Knowledge of the US market and the business culture, and the ability to promote Canada’s value proposition to these markets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 5-7 years of related experience (government – economic development, programs/policy, business development, sales and/or investment promotion)
- Excellent ability to collaborate and communication cross-functionally.
- Ability to travel when required.
- Bilingualism, considered an asset (English and French)
- Undergraduate degree in Public Administration, Commerce, Finance, Economics, International Business or in a related field.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, global environment and to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Ability to develop new ways to engage companies and to advance their investment files.
