Intermediate Reclamation And Closure Specialist

Falkirk Environmental Consultants Ltd. is a growing management and environmental consulting firm, headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. Our team comprises project management professionals, Indigenous engagement experts, professional engineers, environmental and data scientists and social science and project permitting specialists from across Canada and with representation in the United States.

Falkirk Environmental is seeking an experienced reclamation and closure specialist that can fill the full-time position of Closure and Reclamation Specialist, reporting directly to Falkirk’s Environmental Compliance and Management Team.

Educations Requirements

• B.Sc./M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences with restoration background with 5+ years experience in the resource industry, or B.Eng. or M.Eng. in mining, environmental or geotechnical engineering, with 5+ years in the mining industry including closure planning experience.

• Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the mining industry.

• Registered professional, or eligible for immediate registration, with reclamation as one of the areas of listed competency.

• Liability Cost Estimation experience beneficial.

• Open to expanding knowledge base in the areas related to reclamation planning, research design and incorporating innovative technologies.

Project Support

• Participation in a remote team environment, working closely with Falkirk’s Senior staff and Project Managers.

• Health and Safety experience in preparing for and conducting site visits and field work.

• Report and Proposal writing.

• Environmental Management plan writing and execution.

• Ability to work on innovative and collaborative multidisciplinary projects; and

• Ability to mentor staff in skill sets related to reclamation and research.

For this position, the ideal candidate will have the ability to lead reclamation and closure applications for environmental assessments, permit applications and support ongoing site compliance with reclamation related permit conditions. This position allows for interfacing with clients, technical experts and managing subconsultants as part of the role. An asset will be to set up and establish research designs and interpret data and authoring management plans. Reclamation liability cost estimation experience either supporting or leading cost estimates is beneficial. Job requirements are technical writing skills in English and communication management skills to execute project(s) with multi-disciplinary teams.
